Wendy Wicks

Dancers' Next Steps and its parent company, The Resume Works of Pittsford, were founded by Wendy Wicks, a graduate of Cornell University (B.A., English, 1975) who offers over 30 years of experience in helping dancers optimize their opportunities for success.

Wendy’s forte is in working with teenage and pre-teen elite dancers with strong ballet and contemporary backgrounds, first in helping them articulate their dreams and goals for the future and then translating these into customized documents (resumes, cover letters, essays, applications) that will take them to the next level.

Dancers' Next Steps has successfully worked with pre-professional dancers intent on ballet careers immediately following graduation or home-schooling, dancers who are seeking BFA or BA/BS in Dance degrees from top tier conservatory or liberal arts programs, and pre-teen students in need of resumes for highly competitive summer intensive programs. In addition, Dancers' Next Steps is available to clients throughout their careers, such that it has continued to help those who are established and may be in need of a change of venue, as well as those who have had fulfilling performance careers and are in the process of contemplating their next best moves.

Dancers' Next Steps has a long roster of clients who have achieved their goals at various levels throughout their careers. She enjoys the respect of her clients, families, the professional dance community, and industry partners throughout the U.S. and abroad for her expert writing, professionalism, fast turnaround, and unique, individualized attention she provides each of her clients.

Dancers' Next Steps is, in fact, very honored to work with the NYC-based Career Transition for Dancers, a not-for-profit organization that is devoted to helping professional dancers identify their unique talents and skills and to discover new career opportunities after dance. Young dancers who are just starting out can also benefit immeasurably through an alliance with this organization so that they understand in advance the full realities of their chosen field and be able to plan accordingly. By having the education necessary to establishing a game plan early on, Wendy believes that it will be that much easier to make an excellent transition to a new career when the performance years come to a close.

Dancers' Next Steps represents a high quality solution to pre-professional dancers and their families attempting to navigate the complexities of preparing for a professional career in dance.
